On April 27, 2024, the 16th Chongqing International Battery Technology Exchange/Exhibition (CIBF) grandly opened at the Chongqing International Expo Center. At the CNAE booth, the large cylindrical sodium ion battery is particularly eye-catching, with its positive electrode materials mainly composed of polyanions and layered oxides. This time, the sodium battery showcased two main battery cell models, 32140 and 4695, which have significant characteristics such as wide temperature range, extreme safety, abundant resources, fast charging and discharging.
·CNAE sodium ion batteries have the characteristics of fast charging and long lifespan at low temperatures, with a working temperature range of -45 ℃ to 80 ℃. The low-temperature performance advantage of sodium batteries is significant, with a capacity of over 90% maintained at -20 ℃.
·Due to the wide electrochemical window of sodium element, sodium ion batteries have good thermal stability and are less prone to thermal runaway and explosion.
·The abundance of sodium resources in the crust is 2.75%, ranking sixth in the crust, while the abundance of lithium resources in the crust is only 0.0065% and unevenly distributed, with 75% of lithium resources concentrated in South America.
·In terms of fast charging capacity, the charging time of sodium ion batteries is only about 10 minutes. Compared to current mass-produced ternary lithium batteries, even with the support of DC fast charging, it usually takes 30 minutes to charge the battery from 20% to 80%, while lithium iron phosphate takes about 45 minutes.
The CNAE sodium ion cell 32140 has been mass-produced, while the 4695 cell is in the trial production stage. Our company will bring higher quality sodium ion cells to the market.
